Bega - Hotel Commercial

Established in 1830, Bega (pop. 4,536) is the rural centre for the lush Bega Valley and surrounding areas and, of course, home to famous Bega Cheese. Historic buildings to investigate include the 1875 former bank now occupied by the Tourist Information Centre, 1880 Red Cross Building, 1878 St John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 1888 Commercial Hotel, 1881 Court House, 1890 Central Hotel and 1899 Rosevear Jewellers shopfront (165 Carp St) among many others; there are so many interesting buildings and old hotels in Bega it’s worth taking a good walking tour around town. Bega Cheese runs a Heritage Centre featuring a Dairy Museum, merchandise and coffee shop; it’s located together with the Visitor Information Centre.
