Boonah - Commercial Hotel
Boonah

Boonah is one of those small towns that has it all; heaps of pubs including some classics, an interesting main street, interesting local volcanic geography, close to Lake Moogerah and its dam, nested in scenic and historic countryside. We had an excellent counter lunch at the Dugandan Hotel and can recommend it to anyone.

The Boonah Shire Council web site has lots of interesting history and information on the area.

The Australian Hotel is one of three in the main street in Boonah.

Boonah - Commercial Hotel

The Commercial Hotel is the pick of the three hotels in Boonah's main street, at least architecturally. Note the mannequins on the verndah!

Boonah - Simon's Tavern

Simon's Tavern completes the trilogy of pubs in Boonah's main street.

Boonah - Boonah Shire Council Chambers

The Boonah Shire Council chambers in the main street are not one of the town's architectural high points!

Boonah - Christ Church Anglican Church

Christ Church Anglican church is a substantial brick building.

Boonah - Dugandan Hotel

The Dugandan Hotel on the southern outskirts of Boonah has an interesting history dating back to the 1800s and was once a General Store. We had a great lunch here and can heartily reccommend it!

Boonah - Dugandan Hotel Affirmation

This comical drinker's affirmation of loyalty to the hotel and its staff is placed over one of the bars.

Boonah - Dugandan Hotel Menu Board

The menu board of the Dugandan Hotel in Boonah is an excellent example of modern Australian pub cuisine.

Boonah - Dugandan Hotel Roll of Honour

The Roll of Honour of the local men who served in WW2 from local company James Cossart and Sons also hangs in the main dining room of the Dugandan Hotel.
