Australia is a young country but nonetheless is fortunate in having a wealth of interesting rural and
regional towns, many established amazingly soon after foundation of the state capital. Each has its
history, its story, maybe its future. Some are sad and some are thriving, but they all are unique. I
love them! As I travel I will document some of them here.
As soon as you go outside the capital cities you experience that unique Australian countryside. There is nowhere elese like it that I have seen, for its variety. Our famouse poet Dorothea Mackellar said it beautifully, and far better than I would dare try, in her poem My Country. Suitably inspired by Dorothea I will try to capture some of this diversity and uniqueness on this site. Also featured on this page will be my home town; Brisbane, capital of the State of Queensland. Over time I'll be adding Brisbane churches, bowling clubs, parks, architectural notables etc by the hundred! From 3rd to 22 April 2009, my elder son Johari and I did a road trip along old Route 66 from Chicago west as far as Williams Arizona. It was a great trip from all perspectives and is chronicled here also. |
