Grandchester Railway Station
Grandchester

The small town of Grandchester, population 500, is about 75 kilometres west of Brisbane. It is home to one of the earliest train stations in Queensland and one of the least appealing pubs. For a little more information on the town and environs, visit the Walkabout Web Site on Grandchester.

Grandchester Hotel

There is not much that can be said about the Grandchester Hotel. I gues the yellow stairs say it all!

Grandchester Railway Station

The railway station at Grandchester is one of the oldest in Queensland, being the second station built on the Ipswich to Grandchester line and is in an excellent state of repair. The original water tank for servicing the steam locomotives is still in place.

Grandchester Railway Station Roll of Honour

Another interesting feature of the Grandchester Station is the well preserved Roll of Honour, in memory of men from the district who fought in WW1. How British we were then - "For King and Country".
