Originally operating as the Metropole Hotel, the Staging Post Inn in Esk is now operating
as a series of small antique stores. The present building was built in 1932, replacing
the original 1907 building which burnt down.

The old Gatton Federal Hotel.
|
The former Kerry Bridge Hotel in the tiny town of Kerry, 20-30kms south of Beaudesert.
A sign on the room at the front on the right says "Public Bar" and another sign says
"Lounge" next to the main entry. The wing with the old Public Bar appears disused and
contains what looks like the remaining bits and pieces from the bar. A large and barely
legible sign around on the left side wall says "the pub with no beer" and mentions
tea etc - looks like it might have been used as a coffee shop with light meals after
the pub closed. It appears occupied only as a house now.

The former Railway Hotel in Laidley is indeed right next to the railway tracks and the
nearest hotel to the station. It appears to have been closed for some time.
|
The former Bells Vue Hotel in Maryborough. It appears to have been quite substantial at
one time but no more. I don't know what the future holds for it but looking through some
of the windows reveals a shambles of small messy rooms.

One of the art deco windows of the former pub. "Bells Vue" is very unusual as it's usually
"Belle Vue". It appears to be a clever play on words as it looks onto the huge Bell Tower
of St Paul's Anglican Church directly opposite(?).

This is the former Engineers Arms Hotel in Maryborough, built 1870. It became a
restaurant and Bed and Breakfast at some later time. It was still advertised on the
net as a B and B in March 2006 but is now closed. It looked like a very interesting
place but everything is covered in dust so must have been closed for months. Sigh.
