Alicante is a pretty and authentic Spanish town on the Costa Blanca, south of Valencia. See this web site for more information on Alicante and the Costa Blanca (White Coast). We were impressed by the pretty coastline and beach but hey, we come from the country with the world's best beaches! What really impressed us were the ways in which the town has remained Spanish in the midst of such numbers of British and German settlers in the towns and villages all around.
We stayed at the Hostal Les Monjes Palace and can thoroughly recommend it to anyone. It is central to all the local places of interest. While in Alicante try the Restaurante Venta del Lobo for a great traditional Spanish meal at the best prices. Also be sure to stroll along the magnificent seafront esplanade (the Australian Moreton Bay Fig trees made us feel right at home) and visit the fortress which overlooks the city for the spectacular view.
We loved Alicante and will visit it again next trip to Spain - can't wait!.
