Murcia ( provincial website and city website) straddles the Rio Segura and is worth visiting if you are passing through the area. The city centre offers plenty of sights and the night life is a plus. Also check out the interesting Cathedral and the grand public buildings and parklands along the river.

We stayed at the excellent Pension Segura on leafy Plaza de Camachos, just across the river from the city centre. It is an excellent, clean and friendly option if you are in town, and very economical at just €38 per night.

Murcia - Bus Station BUM (Oct 2006)

Like most smaller towns and cities, a large number of arrivals pass through either the train or bus station. I can't imagine this particular bus line gets many English speaking passengers! (Actually it is an acronym for Bienvenido a Universidad de Murcia - Welcome to the University of Murcia)

Murcia - City Council & Government Buildings (Oct 2006)

Befitting its status as a regional capital, Murcia has its fair share of impressive public and government buildings. These are on the main street fronting onto the river (Rio Segura).

Murcia - Puerta del Huerto de las Bombas (Oct 2006)

There is a lovely pedestrian walkway and gardens along the Rio Seguro in Murcia, featuring the Puerta del Huerto de las Bombas.

Murcia - Cathedral Entrance (Oct 2006)

Murcia is graced by a lovely grand cathedral which is well worth visiting. We attended mass here.

Murcia - Church of Carmen & Alameda de Colon (Oct 2006)

This is a view from Plaza de Camachos near Pension Segura down busy Alameda de Colon in Murcia to the pretty parish church, Church of Carmen.
